About Tesamorelin

Tesamorelin (TH9507, marketed as Egrifta) is a 44-amino-acid analogue of human growth-hormone-releasing hormone carrying a trans-3-hexenoyl group on the N-terminal tyrosine. The sequence is otherwise native GRF(1-44), so it acts on the pituitary GHRH receptor and preserves pulsatile release rather than bypassing it, while the added group slows enzymatic degradation and extends the half-life. It has held FDA approval for HIV-associated lipodystrophy since 2010.

Research areas

GHRH-receptor pharmacology and pulsatile GH secretion; the GH/IGF-1 axis; visceral adipose tissue and hepatic fat, where the published clinical programme is largest; and cognition studies in older adults. Supplied for laboratory research into these pathways.
